Kansai Men's Students Finals 2009

This is college level kendo. I'm not sure how many of my students, who are playing kendo in Jr High School, go on to compete at the college level.

At about the 2:45 mark in this video, you see a good example of the "tsuki" attack, or neck thrust, that is actually not allowed at the Jr High level.

And the very end of the video contains some quick points.

I'll be editing and posting a kendo video of my own very soon.

I honestly had no idea what was going on. You should make a video or something if you can get footage to use of a kendo match and explain some of it. Or just explain the scoring...were they always points when they attacked and hit each other? Or was it just a point when the judges held up the flags?

It's a very confusing looking sport, but it looks like fun to watch if you know what is going on.
